Default Transfer case boo boo

So we were driving on the interstate about 70 miles an hour when a car pulls out in front of me and I have to slam on my brakes. My passenger was not wearing her seatbelt and her knees somehow managed to hit the transfer case lever into neutral. She also hit her for head on the windshield resulting in a bruise. Other than that she is fine. What kind of damage could've been caused by shifting the transfer case into neutral at highway speed? I slowed down pulled over and shifted it back into 4high and all seems well. What do you guys think?

Its a Lexus/Toyota. Don't worry about it till something starts acting up.

It probably happened fast enough that no damage was done. If you're concerned, get the fluid serviced and ask the mechanic to look for metallic particles in the old lube.

And tell your passenger to wear her seatbelt at all times. I've been hanging upside down in a car, and the seatbelt saved me from injury.

It's 99% likely just fine. The suggestion to change the TC fluid is about all I'd do if there's no evidence damage was caused.

transfer cases work or they don't work, anything in between will have lots of grinding.
shove it back into high and if it drives you are good. Center diff is a torsen so its hard to mess it up like that.
