Default Using the Grom in my 2006 non nav system

I have the Grom USB and Grom IPD3 (Btd). I do not like it in the least. It is very problematic to get it to connect at times but that is not all.. Worse yet when it doesn't want to connect if I use some of the trouble saving techniques offered by Grom the radio will go into a mode where there is no audio. It will operate as designed, change to cd, tape or radio stations but there is no audio output. The only way to deal with this is to pull the fuses under the hood for the radio (there are two) and wait from 30 minutes to a couple of hours. One good thing pulling the fuses always does work. Unfortunately this is a hassle and sometimes it takes overnight for whatever is the issue to purge itself.

I have tried a half dozen different Bluetooth devices and it seems to be a problem with the Grom product. I have yet to figure out the sequence which can cause the problem. It happens about 50% of the time. I tried writing down every step I took but there seems to be no correlation between steps.

I do not recommend the unit I have with a non-nav 2006 GX..

I bought a Grom TOYNB3 (BT3) on amazon back in October for my '04 GX. It was a very straightforward installation. The BT3 supports bluetooth audio/voice calls so I had to run the included mic cable. I placed it just under the ignition. You can also buy cables to use ipod/iphone or usb connection. I have never had a problem connecting any of my devices following the included instructions. The audio quality is great and the hands free calling works great as well. Since you have an '06 I believe you already have bluetooth for voice calls correct? Anyway, I love the Grom product that I bought. Does exactly what I want and sounds great
