XM/sirrus and loose sand capabilities?
Hello all, I'm looking to buy a 2005 to 2007 GX 470 and had a couple of questions that I have not seen answers for in this forum. I plan on taking it out on beaches on the North Carolina coast and will be getting in to some pretty loose sand and was wondering about the GX's capabilities. I have read that the GX does very well but wanted to confirm it's abilities on loose sand. Also, is XM or Sirrus radio available in the first generation GX?

No idea about satellite radio. Not something I've been interested in, sorry.
I drove out there when I had a Ridgeline pickup, but haven't driven there in the GX, so take my advice with a grain of salt..
#1 thing to do would be to air-down the tires. Have a high-quality compressor for airing them back up when you're done. Don't rely on the air pump at the gas station being in working order.
Lock the center diff when you're on sand (unlock before returning to pavement!!!)
You can still get stuck if you do something stupid, so bring along some cash to pay for getting towed (just in case).
Don't park below the high-tide line.

GX is Great for anything. But remember its as good as the driver behind it knows what he is getting into. My point is just familiarize your self with the car and controls.
Its a real SUV. Tough body on frame, Hi and Lo range transfer case with DiffLock and other Gizmos.
LOOSE sand is not an issue. I have seen people using LC Prado in Saudi and Dubai for having fun on the Dunes.
