Default 1st GX470

Hello All,

Recently purchased an 2003 GX470 with 81k miles on it at Lexus Dealer. Truck is mint and loving it.

I've previously had a 98 LS 400 (Traded to get GX470) and currently have 2000 ES300 Platinum ED with 193k.

It's my first truck - using it for the family for weekend trips and winters here in Westchester NY

Forum has great information!

1. Over the weekend Driver side turn signal went out - took a look on the forum and found a DIY and have bought the part and will give it a go.

2. Since only having 81k and the dealer doesn't really know if the timing belt/chain has been done. All other service records on the "Carfax" were done at the prescribed service intervals. I found that thread as well and will look to get the Aisin Belt and Water pump kit before the winter - along with changing the thermostat

3. I hear the clunk but it's either hit or miss it seems per the forums for a definitive fix.

4. Saw a few folks place some Rims with NITTO Terras on looked quite good. Right now its just bone stock.

Welcome to the forums!

1. That's pretty easy. It happened to me too in the first couple weeks of ownership. Have only had mine for less than a year.

2. No need to worry about timing belt until 100k really. A lot of Lexus owners even push it to 150k. But 100k is your safe bet.

3. Try out greasing the drive shafts first. It's a common thing to occur on 4 wheel drive vehicles. Even Jeeps need to grease their driveshafts to prevent them from clunking.

4. No comment. LOL

For a 2003, the timing belt is 12 years old. Even if it doesn't have 100k on it yet, it's a good idea to change it.
