2005 gx470 suspension Compressor wont kick on?
I have a 05 gx470 and I was having trouble with the rear staying bottomed out and not pumping up. I replaced both ride height sensors. Nothing changed until about 1 hour of driving the compressor kicked on. it road better but still bottomed out some. So I raised the sensors about 5mm. it road great for about 10 miles then went back to riding on the axles. No compressor activity. Also when the compressor is not engaging the push buttons do nothing with changing the dash from H-N-L no matter when you push it. If you hear the compresser running all the buttons will work just fine. Please help. I have a useless car because it is not safe to drive when its riding on the axle bump stops. Thanks!

From you description, I can tell at least one problem with your suspension; your airbags are not holding air. You will have to check the bags and line for any leakage. How old and how many miles?
As for the compressor issue, be mindful that the compressor and ride height control does not work when driving more than 19MPH, except to bring the car back to N position from L. Check to see if the compressor works when the vehicle is stopped be selecting the height to H. If it works, then you're losing too much air while driving and bottoming out. If it works only intermittently, then you will have to troubleshoot the electrical system.
Shoot me a PM if you're interested in used airbags. I've been meaning to put my up for sale on the web, but been too lazy.

It has 136K milage. The bags hold air fine. When you hear the compresser pumping all is well for a while. it stops and no air leaks out. But if you start the car (after sitting a while) and you don't hear the compresser, you know your in for a rough ride. ECM for suspension? Thanks!

I have not checked for corrosion at the compresser. I just dropped it off at Lexus this morning for a diagnostic on it. They said they would wave the cost of the diagnostic test. We will see what they come up with. If they can't tell, I will look for the corrosion at the connector. Thanks! I will keep you all posted on the outcome of the test.

OK the dealer seemed really fair. They called and said the rt rear air bag had a hole in it. That was causing the compressor to run longer and the computer would recognize the compresser running to long and shut things off. They are installing a new air bag for about 550.00 total. (with a 1 year warranty) So as long as this fixes it I will be completely happy. So I am impressed with the service manager at this dealership. If all goes as stated I will post and let you know what dealership I used. Thanks!

with my experience so far you will always have this problem from here on out. make is easy and switch to coil springs...my airbags finally crapped out at 237K...i think i got my monies worth on this one, but now i don;t have to worry anymore about the back end
