GX470 Suspension Ride
Hi Everyone!
I have a 98 4Runner that somehow has become our 17 year old girls ride. With faded green paint and clear coat worn out, she actually loves it, which is great. But now I need an SUV... again.
I rode in my friends 06' GX470 (non KDSS and stock shocks w/ 100k miles) and when we got to our destination, I felt very sea sick. The GX felt like it moved like a boat. I was really surprised with the ride. He said the ride is normal for him. Maybe it is, but I would have thought it ride a little more like my traditional '98 4Runner Body On Frame ride.
Am I missing something here? I know the rides wont be the same, but from all the different SUVs and Trucks I have own or been in, the GX ride experience in my friends 470 was something else.
I ask because I am hoping his ride was the exception.

The GX has selectable shock settings. Two possible scenarios....
1) Your friend really likes the soft suspension and has selected his ride control to soft setting.
2) His shocks are worn and no longer dampens the suspension
When I had the stock shocks, there was a big difference between soft and firm setting for the shocks. I now have custom off-road shocks and no longer use the setting.
