Exclamation StopTech Slotted Rotors and EBC pads installed today - Let the experiment begin!

Oh, and I had new front calipers and Michelin tires installed at the same time, my truck has never driven so nice - well since the last time I replaced rotors and installed new pads.

So at 111k miles let the clock start now to see how long these rotors last before they develop run-out or before the calipers seize.

I will periodically update this post.

After a week and bed-in, first impressions are as follows:

1) Better peddle feel.

2) More responsive, not mushy like OEM

3) Smooth as silk

4) More break dust.

Over and out!

Good to hear positive impressions. Which EBC did you install?

Do you mind sharing how much it cost you to do this?

No, my favorite local indy installed the pads and rotors all 4 corners. The EBC pads are the DP series Supreme Compound for trucks/SUVs.

I have a 40 mi commute/80 round trip, so I am going to put these pad and rotors through their paces in pretty short order.

Rotors and pads via Amazon = $456 + $349 for install + another $231 for new front calipers.

Happy to, but are you local/convenient to Annapolis?

Correction my wife reminded me that my $200 number was incorrect, it was like $349 for the install which also included installing new front calipers.

Stoptech rotors are way awesome and recommended. EBC Greenstuff pads wear way too fast and create a lot of brake dust IMO.

In 600+ miles so no real problem with excessive dust.

The EBC thus far have been great - great feel.

I will take a higher wear rating if my rotors last longer and continue to provide smooth breaking.

Just a quick update...

115k on the clock and all is well. I drive my GX mostly at highway speeds (70+) with stops along the way slowing down/stopping from high speeds, followed by stop and go city traffic.

Brake dust is virtually gone now.

Brakes become very responsive when heated up, they grab quickly, which takes some getting use to coming from the mushy oem set up.

That is all.

Keep on trucking!

Another update....

With 120k+ miles on the clock mostly highway rush hour stop and go traffic below are my thoughts.

The good:

+ No pulsing yet or any signs of pulsing.

+ Initial bite is very good.

The bad:

+ Pedal feel - When first applying the brakes, the pads are smooth and linear feeling. HOWEVER, after a few hard stops, the brakes become VERY grabby when applying the brakes under heavy braking, almost scary grabby. On a couple of occasions they even intermittently caused my ABS to kick in. I REALLY do not like this aspect of the pads.

+ The pads recently started intermittently squealing during slow speed (5 to 10mph) rolls with NO brake pressure applied. My indy checked out the brakes and calipers and all is fine.

+ The pads have become increasingly more dusty. The front wheels get a pretty good coating after a week of my 60 mile RT commute

My biggest complaint is the grabbiness of the pads after a few hard high speed stops. It is very difficult to control, unpredictable and disconcerting. This alone will likely cause me to look at another pad or even go back and try the OEM pad with the slotted rotor.

More to come, stay tuned...
