Default Newbie with a few questions

Hi Folks...

I'm new to the forum and would like some advice. I stopped working on cars for the last 10-15 years for various reasons, but now find myself unwilling to take my cars to repair shops for everything. Back in the day, I used to purchase a after-market service manual for my cars by a company like Chiltons. What do you guys recommend for manuals these days? I know the internet can be a wealth of information, but it can also be a pain in my, well, you know...

I have a few problems with my wife's 2003 GX470 and I have to take care of things. The first is the back latch not locking - saw a few posts regarding that, will probably have to replace. Two others have to do with leaks around the passenger side front door and also the back hatch/door area. I'll need to know how to take things apart without breaking them.

Any thoughts to any of this? I don't mind spending money on a good manual if it is really good.

Thanks.

Helm Inc sells the factory service manuals.

http://www.helminc.com/helm/search_s...lm&class_2=LEX

These are the Lexus originals, not CD scanned (copyright-infringed) that you can sometimes find.
They're expensive, but highly detailed and are the same ones that the dealer techs would use.

The Chilton's, etc. will often leave info out about systems like the airbags for liability reasons (don't want someone getting hurt and suing them). And a lot of their info is generic. "Reassembly is the reverse"

For a lot of the mechanical stuff, the 4th gen V8 4Runner Ltd. is the same underneath (including rear air suspension), so if you can find a service manual for that application there's a lot of info you can use. For body stuff, the Helm version linked above is the ticket.
