Hello! I'm not new to the Lexus brand but this will be my first Lexus vehicle.

I'm about to pick up a 2003 GX470 with 119k on the odometer. No nav but has the 3rd row seats. Purchased her for 13k. I have been lurking the forum the past 3 days and notices that these are the common issue:

- rear air suspension
- cluck noise in driveshaft
- dash cracking

What other issues should i look for? I was looking at the RO on the vehicle and notice they replace the headcover cylinder gasket.

I haven't sign the finance paperwork yet, so I have time to back out if there are other major issues that i'm not aware of.

The driveshaft clunk or lurch should appear on a test drive when you come to a stop. Many of these were corrected by the dealer under warranty. Mine was corrected and I have no problems with this in 75k + miles. If you have a lightly used soccer mom vehicle, you may be surprised at how long those air bags will last. If you have one that was used in extensive towing or heavy loads, you may have problems sooner than latter. If the vehicle was garaged and the dash kept clean and treated with uv protectant, it may not have problems either. You should check and see if the timing belt was replaced. Otherwise drive and enjoy.

Other things to look out for:

Transfer case actuator leak
Radiator leak (more likely to smell it than see it)
Wheel corrosion
Frozen brake calipers
Warped brake rotors
Blown speakers
Gear whine noise at higher speed

I picked up the GX on Monday and I'm liking it so far. I have to get use to the MPG. Coming from a 14 Mazda 6, that's a huge hit.

I looked over the service history and it look like they address a whole bunch of issues during the previous ownership. I'll have to talk to the Dealership. It looks like they declined to do work on the timing belt and I don't see a sticker saying it has been replaced.

I'm not too worry about the stereo. All that is getting replaced.

Radiator has been replaced, the leak in the transfer case has been resolved, and the Chrome wheel is already pitted and starting to corrode. I'll probably pick up some 4 Runner Wheels.

The dash already has the sticky/crack. I'm waiting for the TSB to come out to get that replaced.

My only concern right now is the rear suspension. It felt really bounce whenever it wants. Last night, it was bouncing a lot driving down my alley but started to get smoother when the GX was getting back to the driving height. It was either that or my suspension setting was set on Sport.
