Default Anybody switched from auto wipers to interm?

Hello,
Just reading all the stuff on here about auto wiper problems and finally realized mine don't work at all. When looking through the manual it looks like you could have either the auto function or the classic intermittent function. Has anyone ever tried to switch back to the older option?
Thank you.
C

Default Good grief

Well, I tried tapping the sensor and it fell off the glass. Then the wipers started running. Whatever substance that bonded the plastic to the glass is dried up and crumbly. Anybody have any ideas what to use to stick it back on?

I did mine years ago. At that time I just disconnected the wire going into the sensor on the windshield. The auto setting became the intermittent and the auto adjustment (rotate the end) is your intermittent delay. It was years ago but I don't remember doing any more than that.

There is a way to use both

It become intermittent during extreme temps. Low temps the sensor would not work with snow and ice, it becomes intermittent. Also when the glass gets too hot.

I unplugged mine this week. Working perfectly now. Should have done it sooner!

Our GX got a new windshield 3 months ago. At that time I replaced the the rain sensor tape with OEM. It still acted spastically. It detected water on the windshield as it should, but there was no rhyme or reason to the speed at which the wipers activated.

It's behind the rear view mirror, a black box attached to the windshield.

This is how I opened mine to unplug the sensor. There is a small slider clip on the bottom of the box next to the rear view mirror that you pull out (slide toward the dashboard parallel to the windshield). To can then pull off the cover that is closest to the headliner by pulling it away from the windshield. The wire can then be unplugged.

Good info to know. I drove for the first time in the rain last night, and it seems to be functioning fine.
