Question "Blinking" Tire Pressure Light

My tire pressure light started blinking today. Now I've seen it lit constant when pressures were low, but I've never seen it blink.

Checked the owner's manual and it mentions nothing about the cause of a blinking light.

Any ideas?

This indicates a problem with the system. You'll need to get the codes read.

Well I was thinking bad TPMS, but one think the owner's manual would make mention.

blinking for 60 seconds then returning to steady is more than likely a bad sensor. They have small batteries in them which obviously fail over time, and are unserviceable.

There's a thread which details on how to totally disable the system if you're looking to go that route.

It doesn't return to steady, it started blinking on a continuous basis.

I am still leaning towards a bad sensor, the problem is finding out which one. Will a code reader be able to identify which sensor is bad?

Well it's almost time for new tires anyway, so I will likely replace all 4 when the time comes. Thanks

There are five sensors - the spare has one too.

If you can catch the Michelins on sale, the usual $70 discount will pay for a couple of them.

A Michelin rebate period just started this week, and I think it runs to about the end of December.

I had been waiting for the rebate to start, and I had my new set of LTX M/S 2 tires installed on Monday. I'll be interested to see how well they wear. The CrossTerrain tires, which Micheline no longer makes and that came with vehicle, were only rated for 40,000 miles, and the LTX M/S 2 tires are rated and warranteed for 70,000 miles.

There is no better tire for medium duty trucks than the LTX MS2, I put them on EVERYTHING, my Escalade, the Landcruisers, an the GX will get them soon as well.

Hello,
My light flashed for five days and it went out just two days ago. Discount Tire if you have one around will check the sensors for free with a wireless scanner. It is in the Manuel about flashing vs steady just fyi. Steady means low pressure, flashing means system error/sensor battery not being detected.
Just be glad it went out I sure am.

I've had the blinking light for a few weeks now. I'm going to stop by Discount Tire tomorrow to check it out. It it's a big malfunction I'm just going to disable the TPMS as someone suggested earlier. I'm capable of checking my own tire pressure on a regular basis.

The Lexus TPMS system is pretty useless anyways since it doesn't let you know which tire is low or the pressure in each tire. The TPMS in my wife's TL is much more useful as it shows the actual pressure reading in each tire.

I had this issue a few months back (although I can't remember if the TPMS light was steady or blinking). I found that somehow the TPMS A/B button had been pressed. I hit the button and the light went off. You may want to give that a try.

Well, after about 6 months of the light blinking, it went away over the weekend. What a pointless feature.

My tire pressure light blinks and stays on. The dealer told me it is doing that because its looking for the spare tire and there is not a spare tire present in the housing.
