shaking steering wheel .. pulsing brake pedal
Back ground...bought 09 GX-470 4K miles ago..has 50K on it. Ran perfect when we bought it. wife said it started doing it 1 week later. I drove it and felt like warped rotors to me. replaced front rotors and pads with cheap wearever brand...I Know...I was sort of trouble shooting..did nothing ...did the back rotors and pads and seemed to fix it..did proper bed-in of new parts but, never checked at speeds above 55mph. recent trip got us up to speeds above 55... at these faster speeds when brakes are applied we get a nasty wheel wobble and a pulsing pedal...brakeing below 55 it feels fine.. thought's ?? last car was a 4runner which has the the same rotors and pads and never had a problem...could it be ABS ?? should I go with new oem rotors and pads ?? Thanks in advance

You'll have to get the rotors turned or replaced, at this point.
After getting the work done, check the torque on the lug nuts. With six bolts on the GX, this ought to happen much less often, but it still might. Spec is 83 ft-lbs.
What can happen is the torque on the nuts is either far too high (air wrench was used to install them) or very different from one to another. This pulls the hub & rotor out of alignment -- they are no longer true. Results in pulsating brakes.

residue buildup on the rotors from the pads, if they are still in spec you might want to turn them, and then reconsider y our choice of pads next time. Although conventional wisdom says warped, not usually the case. brakes are a constant battle with this truck. at least it stops, right?

New pads (ceramic) and rotors have less than 1000 miles on them ...pad build up already ?? or cheap rotors ? Im not gonna get rotors with less than 1000 miles on them turned...lug's are all tight...remember it did this before i installed new parts...is there anything else it could be...wheels all feel tight no play...it only has 50K miles on it.

Rotors and Pads removed/replaced......done at the dealership,,,,,,
Bottom line....
Seems to be a known issue....constant battle with GX ...learned to live with it....I did...and yes...the GX brakes and stops well......

I had this constant battle with my GX, and I switched to Wagner ThermoQuiet brake pads and Centric premium rotors and I haven't had the issue since. I really think something is wrong with the factory rotors/pad combination they put on this cars, but I just don't know. It could also be my wife's driving style, but it sounds like everyone has this issue.
I will say it's only been 6 months so far, so I can't say for sure it's fixed, but so far it's smooth as glass.

No, it's not an issue, it's a feature with the GX included with no charge. Dancing with the brake.
