Default Car battery drained, WEIRD

I drove the truck a night before and all was well. 24 hours later no sign of power, completely dead.

I jumped the battery last night and the truck started. I drove it around and came home started right up, this morning started without an issue.

What happened here, all doors were closed and dome was off. It is an Exide battery, I dont know how old the battery is, PO changed it.

Thanks for your input.

Because I don't like being stranded, I change batteries every 3 years.

It's possible the computer didn't go into low-power mode for some reason. If it happens again, disconnect the negative cable on the battery and leave it off for 15 minutes, then reconnect it. You'll have to reprogram the auto-windows afterwards (see sticky) and maybe reenter your radio presets.

Thanks Chip,

I usually change the batteries every 2-3 year as well. This battery looked pretty good. I just went to the truck and looked at the decal to see when the PO changed the battery, the pull out small round plastic sticker was not punched/pulled when they installed the battery.

Exide has 20 months free replacement per their website. If I can find out the date of purchase and the retailer, I would get a replacement.

Must be the week. My battery, Lexus 84 Month installed 6/4/12 was drained so low it wouldn't turn over the engine. The dome lights and door locks still worked. So I replaced it with an Odyssey 34R. Going to take it to the dealer to see if they will warranty it even though the install was done by previous owner. It is in the service history.
