As a first responder I was wondering if it was at all possible to install headlight flasher into my headlights for emergency responses. If it is possible could anyone offer any tips or guides?

Yes. It shouldn't be a problem but having a bit of knowledge of electrical circuits and reading a schematic would be a big boost.
If you have someone else do it, there are a few simple ways to do it or you could look for something aftermarket on-line (google headlight flasher)
Off-hand, I'd use a 12vdc SPDT relay wired to a switch run into the cabin for on/off control. Have the relay control a 12v flasher rated for the proper wattage which would be wired into the low beam circuit turning it on/off.

I did a search for headlight flasher and found a few good schematics. One signal light flasher looked like it could be easily modified to suit. The other one that caught my eye was this one:

My opinion is that it would be better to buy a flasher from a reputable company than try and build one yourself. Headlights are an important part of the truck. Not the place for DIY equipment. Something like the UHF2150A High Beam Flasher from Whelen. Whelen equipment is widely used by emergency responders.

Keep in mind that if you do buy a flasher you need one that does negative switching. The GX high beams use negative switching (low beams are positive switched). The Whelen should work just fine on our GX’s. Of course, if you built something that just used conventional relays, it wouldn’t matter if the lights were neg or pos switched. For solid state flashers it does matter.

I don’t have the URL for the GX470 headlight circuit PDF but maybe RCsGX could provide that. Everything you need to connect a flasher is shown on page 2 of the PDF.

Here's how that Whelen UHF2150A would connect to a 2005 GX. Not sure about other years. Best to verify as you go. Probably not much difference between years.

Just look for the arrows!
