yes, also happened here in the US. someone put car in reverse and hit the car behind, and claimed the guy behind rear ended his car. but the car behind had dash cam. you can imagine the rest of the story.

Well, I bought a dash cam today. Decided to go cheap. Purchased a Chinese G1W and a 32 GB card. Will post a review when it arrives from Singapore. Purchased from foxoffer.com. I have had very good experiences buying direct from Singapore dealers.

Just ordered it last week. They haven't even charged my account yet. Not sure what's going on.

No camera yet. The original camera order did not get processed. I ordered the same camera from a seller on Amazon. Camera shipped from Singapore on the 24th.

I was thinking of ordering a g1w-c from foxoffer, that's not the place you had issues with is it?

Yes it was. I placed the order and paid with PayPal. My PayPal account was never charged. Went back several days later to check my Foxoffer account status and found that the camera was still in my shopping cart. Rather than try again, I ordered from Amazon. Maybe I did something wrong. But usually once you are transferred to the PayPal site and pay, that is the end of the transaction.
You could try Foxoffer - just use a credit card. They are legit.

Camera arrived today!

Setup was easy using these instructions:

http://www.octabode.com/herb/Baiklov_Instructions.pdf

Only tested the camera inside the house using a 12 volt power supply. Set the video to 720p at 60 frames per second. Played the video back on an LG 32" TV using the supplied HDMI cable. Video (and audio) quality were very good. I'd put the video quality on par with indoor surveillance cameras selling in the $130 range.

Got rid of the chrome lens ring with a black permanent marker.

I'm using a 32GB class 4 micro SD card. Some people seemed to have problems using class 10 cards. (32GB = 5 hours rec time at 720p)

The power cord is just over 11 feet and should work O.K. in a GX.
Camera is light weight at 2.4 ounces!

Snow storm hitting tonight, so it may be awhile before I can do a video. Have a 200 mile trip scheduled for Monday. Maybe then.

I got a innovv c1 camera this week and will be planning to install it somehow. I'll most likely change the battery over to a super capacitor first (to ensure no unwelcome car fires) and then mount to the ceiling somehow.

Have you completed the install yet?

Yes, camera is in. I mounted it near the rear view mirror . Because of the mount, the camera will not fit completely behind the mirror, but the location is still unobtrusive. Will get some video up soon. I ran the power cord behind the drive's side "A" pillar trim, then under the dash to the the power socket on the console. In the future, I will install an in-line fuse and hard wire directly to the power plug socket circuit.

I put a thin coat of silicone grease on the suction cup and the cup holds tight to the windshield.
If you start running the power cord from the power socket, you will not have to cut the wire to feed it up to the "A" pillar. I used a wire coat hanger to 'fish' the wire up from under the dash to "A" pillar.

First impression: The video looks better indoors than on the street. Decent, but I was hoping license plate numbers would be more legible.

G1W Dashcam

Still haven't got a video up. Tried an upload but it failed.
Here are some screen shots of the camera video that I made using Snagit (Highly recommend it for capturing web pages-even scrolling ones, video clips and pictures.)

1080P

720P

Night 720P

Day Overcast 720P

Observations:

I prefer using the camera in1080P. A 32 GB card holds more that enough data.

I'm using a class 4 32 GB card and have not had any of the problems mentioned in some of the reviews.

The unofficial manual states there is no audio when using HDMI - there is audio.

Very difficult to fast forward or rewind using HDMI. Much better to connect to a computer if you need to search for something.

Very difficult to remove the camera from the mount.

No interference with the GPS signal.

The camera settings can be made using the HDMI cable in the house. Easier than trying to learn the camera functions that way than in the truck.

Performs better than expected when pointing into the setting sun. The video is still very usable.

Wish it read license plates better.

For the money, it gets the job done.
