No sound from speaker, is it blown?
Last week while listening to the radio I hear a scratchy noise in the back driver side door follow by hissing then silence. I thought my tire or air bag had a leak but found nothing.
Today I found that door has no sound coming out of the speaker so that must have been related to what I heard.
Those that had to replace the speaker did you completely get no sound at all when "blown"?
I have the non nav unit not sure if there is an amp for my system?

Mark Levinson sound? Chances are you've torn a speaker surround on one of them. Check online for surround repair kits, they're cheap and easy to do. The door panel is a breeze to pull off as well.

I do NOT have the ML sound.
The fader and balance are zero.. since only the front has tweeter maybe that's how things sound until it turns up loud enough. Have to test the decibals to see if one is quieter than the other in the back.
would a torn surround sound obviously bad?

Depends on how bad the surround is torn, but yeah.
There are repair kits that are way cheaper than replacing the speaker.

The speakers in my Land Cruiser had zero intact surround remaining after 23 years, but they still put out audible sound, just really lacked mid-low range output. If you've got nothing but hissing/no sound, you've got bigger problems than just the surround IMO. The tweeter would still work just fine, it doesn't sound like you've got even that. I'm going to say blown voice coil, or (hopefully not) an issue with the amp/headunit. I'd do some further diagnosis before spending any money on a repair kit.
Maybe pull the speaker in question and hook it up to the speaker leads for one of the other doors, and try another speaker in the "blown" door to make sure you know what component failed.

You can look at the speaker in question and you'll know right away if it's blown. That won't rule out additional problems though. In my experience, a blown speaker usually has an obvious rattling, distorted sound, particularly at higher volumes.

A quick google search found this one for the 4.5" speakers. There are other kits available for the 6x9" and smaller speakers.
