Default Head Light Staying On

Installed a remote start system. After a given time ,the car engine shuts off but the lights don't, The light will only go off when the door is opened then closed. This has cause by battery to drain. Is there anyway to configure the lights to shut off when the engine shuts off? I have a 2005 GX470. Thanks

Either something isn't compatible or something isn't wire correctly. Until you find out what's wrong take it off of auto and just turn your lights off when you turn your GX off....problem solved. If you're saying it's not in auto and you turn them off and they don't turn off until you open the door you need to find out the problem or just deal w/ opening the door to turn them off.

Who installed the remote start?

i installed a remote starter a couple of years ago, i make sure I turn lights off and the heat and seat warmers on at night so if the car is running in the driveway in the AM, the lights dont draw attention to it. also i extended the running time for warm up so the car never gets a chance to shut down before i come out.

Default Lights

I had a car by lexus as we'll, without a remote start, and if you sat in the car and shut off the car the lights it would also stay drain the battery. On the second gen GX you can set the option off how the light turn off through the HUD. Not sure how to set up on the first gen. Hoping someone can tell me.

You must've had a weak battery in your Lexus car because my GX's battery has never been drained by the auto headlights waiting to turning off nor have any of my other vehicles that had automatic headlights.

There's no way to set the time w/ our 1st gen GX. If there is a way it's through the dealer and the use of their tech stream. Google tech stream.

Contact the member gxman1. He has the tech stream module and he can tell you for sure if the settings for the lights are there or not:

No they won't. Once HIDs warm up they draw less power than halogens. Halogens are 55 watts / HIDs are 35 watts.

I've had HIDs in a lot of past vehicles (currently in my GX too) and never had any battery drain from leaving them on. I've left the headlights on for over 15mins w/ my GX not running and never had any battery issues. If you're battery can't last the min or two before the auto headlights turn off once you turn off your GX or another other car you have battery issues.
