Introduction - new to me 04' GX
How are you all doing?
Just wanted to take a moment an introduce myself to the GX crowd here. I took after my dad and always have been a Toyota grease monkey, and I originally joined this forum in 2004 when I was initially looking at LS400s at the age of 20. I was a bit ambitious at the time and truth of the matter is I couldn't ever come close to affording one at that time.
Well, years have passed and I eventually got a decent career, a house, and decided to Start the Lexus thing last December. I picked up my 95' LS400 and have been a regular on the LS forums on here.
I had an old 89' Landcruiser that i had since i was 18, and decided i wanted something a bit more as my big SUV. Well, i was feeling patriotic last year and decided to give an American car a chance. So i bought a 2003 Cadillac Escalade ESV....
To sum that up: BIG MISTAKE!!! As cool as it was, If any of you aren't familiar with them, THEY ARE TOTAL JUNK.
So when all else fails: go back to your roots.
After test driving and researching numerous Landcruisers, LXs, and Sequoias, I finally settled on the one that struck me as the best:
She is a 1 owner 04' with 156k miles, and has service records at the local dealership from when she was new until last week when it was traded in.
Other than a few minor bumper scuffs and that small dent under the drivers side tail light, it is TOTALLY immaculate!
I paid a bit more than I initally was planning just because of the negative equity on the Escalade (and there was ALOT of it) but it was likely on the verge of going BOOM due to an internal oil pressure problem (in addition to the laundry list of other crap going south) and there was NO WAY i was going to be able to sell it for how much i owed on it!
This truck is amazing! and i'll be looking forwards to learning more about it on here.
As for my other vehicles:
my 89' 4Runner V6. Bought by my dad when it was brand new, and now it has 280,000 miles. Still quite the runner too!
My weekend toy: 75' Cadillac Coupe Deville. Unlike the other one, this one actually has held together pretty well! It mostly sits in the garage though, as 8 MPG is rough on the wallet.

Here is my 89' Landcruiser. I would of kept it Forever, but the parts were prohibitively expensive, and it was in a wreck and rebuilt improperly at some point and the body was all out of whack. Everytime i would go to replace something, NOTHING would line up or fit properly! It was a damn good truck though, i had it for over 10 years with no major issues
And just for grins, Here is my 78' Landcruiser which was my first truck when i was 16. I sold it to my dad after driving it for two years, so It is still in the family.

Nice Landcruisers! I had a '91 HDJ81 prior to the GX, it was straight from Japan, had 90,000kms when I got it, 4.2 I6 turbo diesel, 3x lockers, factory winch, center console fridge with icemaker, amazing vehicle! I'll buy another when I can find one as clean as this one was, I miss it everyday.

Thanks again guys!
I stumbled across the Deville when i was looking for an old boat of an american car. It belonged to a man in his 80's who had bought it brand new and pretty much kept it in a garage its whole life. It had been his baby for years, but he figured it was just sitting around taking up space and that it was time to pass it on. It has all the original papers including the window sticker, and the price was more than reasonable for the condition its in! I think he was happy to sell it to a mechanic type of person and i told him that it would be in good hands.
It's a far cry from the LS400 that started to be developed just a few years later!

I also got a 2004 GX Blizzard Peal. Got it 5 years ago with only 40K miles on it. I think I got a great deal. Paid $24K to some rich dude. Love this SUV. Will keep forever.
