Procedure to remove map light housing
Place your finger tips between the headliner and the front edge of the housing (the end next to windshield). Using both hands pull the front of the housing down firmly and evenly. When the front edge comes out, slide it forward to disengage the rear sliding tabs. It's held by pressure tabs in the front And sliding tabs in the back. I wrote this in case the following YouTube video link one day stops working.
While it works, this is how it's done:

Mmmm. I did not remove the housing to change bulbs so I would not know. However, I can tell you that you do not need to remove the housing to change the map bulbs. If you refer to the tiny amber bulbs that "shine" on the center console at all times, they are just a single amber LED bulb (round head LED's) on each orifice, soldered to the each LED's power source cables. That's all I know about LED's. I can tell you though, that to find them you'll have to disassemble the whole overhead housing, that to my surprise is quite complex. It's not a big deal though. I actually did just that because I have been forever annoyed that the right amber LED is partially occluded in the orifice. Upon disassembling the whole thing until finally getting to it, I was surprised to find that the orifice is purposefully designed using tabs so that the right LED sits occluded. These tabs are not present in the left LeD orifice. The question is why? I imagine somebody in optics can decipher why designers did this.

You can have an SMD type LED, I had picked from Hong Kong, these are having the shell of the bulb for connectivity and the LED which is mounted on a circuit board, depends on how many you want, Here is what I had it fixed. Here are the removal and refix method.

i remember having to remove a few screws and a few parts to gain access to the lights that are aimed straight down.once you access them remove the originals and solder in the LEDs. it's actually really easy to do.
