Smile 07 GX with FJC Rims *Pic Heavy*

Hi All,

Further to my last post about changing the stock GX rims, I bought myself a set of FJ cruiser rims and I think they work well with the GX. I was also able to use my center caps from the GX rims on the FJ rims which was nice

I got the GX 2 weeks back. It is an 07 with approx 65000 km (40K miles for the US folks).. All services at the dealer.. This is my first big SUV and I love it. I had many cars before but love the SUV ride. My DD is an IS300.

Next on the list ..

Get rid of some nicks and scratches on the body
Sports tails

Here are the pics of the GX..

Nice! Interesting that the stock Lexus center caps fit on the FJ wheels which make it look as if it's OEM. Funny how both the stock wheels and the FJ wheels are 17" but the FJ looks bigger than the stock.

Very cool that you were able to use the stock center caps, I really wish the PO had kept the stock wheels around for ours, doh! Looks great!

Edit: Just found a set of Lexus centercaps that were "dealer takeoffs", so used but in new condition, for $45 shipped! Thanks for doing the legwork and sharing your findings!

Yes, the FJ rims came with the stock Toyota TPMS sensors in them. I got a local Toyota dealer to sync them up with the GX for 29.95$. I made sure they programmed it in the 2nd spot as I will be running the original rims with snow tires in the winter.

that is really good intel. did you just need numbers off the sensors? were they able to read them through the tire? did they have to dismount them?

Part of the reason for this is that the FJ rims are IIRC ET10 offset vs ET25 for our stock GX rims. This pushes each corner out 15mm.

No dismounting required and No numbers required from the sensors. The Toyota tech was able to scan the tpms for each well using a hand held device and used it to program the new tpms into the GX. They also had to re-scan the spare.

So the 4 new tires + Old GX spare was added to the 2nd set without any dismounting or having to need any tpms serial codes. I am assuming it was a Toyota tool but not sure.

Looks great! The FJC Wheels look sweet on your rig especially with the center caps.

I installed my Lexus centercaps today, can't get them to sit quite as flush as the Toyota ones did. Can you post a close up of yours so I can compare? They feel like they are on there really good, like they won't go flying off or anything, but want to make sure.

I think that looks great. Dumb question..... I have stock rims and just got new (expensive) tires about 5,000 miles ago. Will the tires fit on the FJ rims or would I be forced to get new tires as well?

Thank you.

Answer: the FJ wheels in the picture in this posting are the exact same dimensions (17x7.5) as the stock GX 470 wheels, therefore, you can swap the tires over onto the FJ wheels with almost no effort.

They are the same size as far as the tires fitting is concerned, but the backspacing/offset is different, as pointed out above.
