Default Heated seats...is it just me or...

I bought an '07 GX recently and noticed the heated seats pretty much suck. They get luke warm and the luke warmness does not go high enough up on your back. I was driving an '01 BMW X-5 today and sure enough, those heated seats actually work. Is it just that the '07 GX models don't get as warm as some other cars? I had my Dealer look at it and they said they worked. I have back pain sometimes and the heat seems to help in the '01 X-5 but not in this GX. Are they all like this?

I've own lots of Lexus and Toyota with heated seats but never bother using it since I live in Southern California. But whenever I decide to use it, I just feel like don't even bother because it took a while for the seats to warm up and when it does, the trip is over. lol
So whenever I feel like it's too cold, I rather turn on the heater and get much better results.

Just as a point of reference, I have an 04 GX470 and the heated seats work perfectly. I start using them around September and don't turn them off till May

They heat up right away and I can't put them on high as it's just too hot.

That's really interesting. Many of the responses say otherwise. I will take truck in since I have the extended warranty.

I've actually noticed this on my IS. I'm fairly sure the heated seats in my Subaru Forester got warmer than these. BMW heated seats can actually used to cook food in an emergency situation, haha.

Lexus can't touch the heated seat temps in BMW, Mini and VW. I get it, but why is one million degrees important? Don't you just turn it down once it gets uncomfortable?! (Booyah in warm, sunny Alaska excluded)

I find the multi-position switch in the GX awfully fiddly and fussy. I prefer the simple on / off switch in my 2GS430. It heats up my seat as quick as it can and then tempers itself so it doesn't get uncomfy.

While I might wish that the heated seats on my 05 GX would warm up more quickly, once they do start producing heat, I have to dial them down to the lowest setting level. Otherwise the amount of heat that they are giving off is too much to still be comfortable.

The seat heaters in my TDI Golf were much better then the GX, Most of the time I can barley notice they are on. I know they have aftermarket kits that probley work alot better. The hardest part is the wiring, which is already done, I wounder if we could buy aftermarket heating pads, and get them to work with the stock system.

I have to turn mine down too after a bit, but i'm not a fan of high temperatures as it is, i usually turn the heater off/way the heck down once i find it uncomfortable.

Comparing german made vehicle heated seats VS Lexus/Toyota is like apples and oranges. BMW/VW/Audi actually sew the heating elements to the back side of the leather seat surface thus getting a much warmer immediate temp to the driver/passenger. Other manufactures actually have the elements routed in the foam of the seat itself.

My 08GX heated seats are mediocre at best, whereas my 01 Audi Allroad will literally roast my *** in 5 minutes.

I have a 2004 GX. Outside temperatures here in Wisconsin have been in the low teens this last week. I can't run the driver's seat heater on 'high' ever. The highest setting burns my @ss. When I was test driving this truck, the salesman turned my seat heater to max to show how neat-o it worked. Jeez!
