Default front axle boots

has anyone changed the front axles boots yet. Just discovered my inner driver side boots cut open.Is it a DIY or a dealer job. Pls reply

I did it by myself. Not that hard at all. Took me 2.5hrs for the driver side.
Buy the OEM boots kit from a Toyota dealer. (FJ Cruiser part number is a match). Get some vinyl/rubber gloves.

You may want to go to auto-parts store and rent the axle nut socket. This is the only "custom" tool you need.

Had the right side replaced by a local mechanic for under $250.

If you go to any Toyota dealer, they'll give you the part numbers.

I able to find the Driver side boot kit part number. Just go and ask for it.

04427-60140

both sides on mine were leaking and one was almost totally dry. I got the full resbuilt axles from Napa and had a trusted mechanic swap them out and had him throw on some better rotors and pads while he was at it. That was over two years ago and all has been well. The breaks have never been better with no warping.
