It's a weird issue. Randomly the radio's volume can not be raised or lowered. Usually this is at first time you start the truck no matter cold or hot. When this happened last time i clicked on the button that says sound. It brings you to the screen to change fade and balance and it was all darked out that you couldn't tap on it.

After two minutes or even less it started to work. I'm thinking the original amp is the issue but others tell me its the radio.

Any ideas?

Vinniety yes, the issue is not the amp but the radio. GX year models from 2007 - 2009 having the Pioneer Radio required a change due to this same defect which you have mentioned. A TSB was issued later L-SB-0006-10 "Abnormal Radio Operation". I cant find the TSB, will post it when I get it. But I did not know 2004 models had a similar issue. Maybe you are the first one. Looks like the radio is dead.

this happens on my 04, but only after many hours of continuous driving. (12hrs or so). All I do is unplug the amp under the seat, and re-plug it in. Works fine, and doesn't happen again. I was thinking maybe an overheat condition. This is also an ML / NAV car.
