Default Gx470 2003 center cup holder

Hello... I would like to ask if anyone has idea how to remove a paper that went inside the hatch of the GX470 center cup holder. This caused the cup holder cover to not open completely rendering the cup holders unusable. Any help solving this problem is appreciated.

Sincerely,

Randy

Can you post a picture of the part you need to be removed? If you can circle it, that would be great.

Default Gx470 2003 center cup holder

Thank you... Please review the attached file. The part pointed to by the arrow is currently blocked and would not open all the way as shown. This is because there is a paper that slipped into that hatch that is blocking the cover from fully sliding in to the hatch.

I am looking for a way to open that and remove the paper inside.

Thank you again...

1. Remove rear A/C control module (simply pull it back) or use tools to unclip
2. Remove trim pieces on each side of the shift (pull them up)
3. Remove 2 side screws on each side of the cupholder
4. You maybe will have to remove center console if there is not enough clearance
5. If there is enough clearance, try to get move sides (black pieces) to the side and get paper out

Here is the picture of the entire assembly:

What would be a good tool to use to remove rear A/C control module without damaging the plastic as shown in the above picture on 58903A.

What trim pieces are we referring to in step 2?

I was able to pull the A/C control module out but not the trim on each side of the shift. I am not sure what they are?

Just pull the cupholder straight up and remove it, its held in by pressure clips. You dont need to take apart the center console to remove the cupholder.

Thank you.. Pardon me for confirming. You meant to pull straight up as show in my posted picture? Where do I need to hold to pull it up?

If you can slip a few fingers in the cupholder, pull straight up on the lid. Give it a good pull because its held in by pressure clips.

EDIT: And maybe keep your hand at the back of the lid as you pull the front w/ your two front fingers so you dont accidentally damage the lid....if that makes sense.

I'm resurrecting this thread as I want to replace the trim piece that the BLACK arrow is pointing at. I can't find the part number for the life of me, however. It's not in any Lexus exploded drawing that I've seen.

Can anybody assist?

I don't believe you can get it as a single piece. Mine was tired looking so I covered it with carbon fiber vinyl . Then later I did a wood kit and that came with a piece of wood so I used that.

Cool. Do you have pics of the wood kit?
