I hate the expensive rear height suspension system. It has never given a Lexus ride. If I put the switch all the way left it is to bouncy and bottoms out and if it put all the way to the right it bangs over bumps like a vette. I leave it in the middle and it's bearable. My ride is level and it stays level with different amounts of passengers but the ride is still quite stiff which may be normal. Replacing any components are crazy expensive. Shocks are $700 and airbags are $1000, WOW. On a smooth highway though my GX is so smooth and responsive.

I agree that the ride sux sometimes. I will say that after driving anything else for a while and getting back in my GX, it feels much better. I think you just get used to it over time but the ride quality is actually very good (compared to most cars/trucks).

I am tempted to just slap in some Bilsteins and see what the ride is like - I'm afraid that I will miss the adjustability but to your point - the softer settings are useless anyway as the ride is simply too wallowly and really not more comfortable at all.

Has anyone swapped out the stock shocks for Bilsteins and if so - how do you like the ride?

I had bilstein hd 5100's for an fj for awhile and they were too hard. Put in some stock fj tokico shocks in and wow. Super nice ride. I have yet to swap in the fj coils that i already bought.

Did you keep the air bags in the back? Do you miss the adjustability of the stock shocks? If you have any part numbers for the tokico shocks that would be awesome.
