Tires for a 2006 GX 470
I am looking for new tires for my 2006 GX 470. I live in Utah, so there will be heavy snow at times. I do a fair bit of highway so I would prefer a quiet ride. I don't do a lot of off road, but I do sometimes. I got it used and it had Michelin Terrains which seen to have been fine. The recommendations from a few tire stores and the dealer include Firestone Destination LE2 (both the Firestone and an independent dealer), Bridgestone Dueler Alenza HL, Michelin LTX M/S 2(also two separate places) or Cross Terrain, Yokohama Geolander and Uniroyal 842. Also, are there other sites worth looking at to review the tires. Thank you.

Ditto, this tire and the cross terrains are probably the most popular choice and the best, michelin is usually more expensive but most tire stores will tell you they make a great product.

Michelin in a no-brainer. They also make an LTX A/T 2 which has a little more aggressive tread pattern. Just can't beat how quiet they are plus the longevity. Be sure to have them mounted by a place with Hunter Road Force balance machines. Nothing beats a Michelin in the rain or snow.

Are my two go-to sites for tires and wheels. They usually beat my local tire shops by a wide margin and also carry brands you just can't find locally. Given your list I would go with the Michelin but I do also like Nitto, General and Falken tires. All three of these brands will be cheaper then Michelin. It's not like your driving a high speed sports car, you just want a nice ride with solid traction...

Are you referencing the Michelin as a "high speed sports car" tire? That's not really why anyone buys a Michelin. More so because of how long that last. That, they're quiet, and they are good on a wet, snowy road.

Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armour is an AT tire with great on-road manners and relatively quiet ride. They are "snow flake" rated. I've used them for 2 winters on my 4Runner and they are awesome in snow.

As I was saying, I have LTX MS2 on my GX and these probably are the best tires for our trucks. But their snow performance is no match for Silent Armors.
Nitto Terra Grapplers are anothe attractive option with great snow performance.

I live in utah and have had dunlops.. which I hated, the michelin tires were great, and I am very happy with my Bridgestone set too. Get a set of winter tires and custom wheels and summer tires.. that is the most ideal setup in my opinion. I have been in utah for a few years with my GX, and it is great in the snow.

You might consider the Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac. Its got a super aggressive looking tread and sidewall but still an all-terrain tire. I've heard nothing but good reviews about them and will be making these my next tire purchase.
These are also "snowflake" rated.

We now live in Grand Junction, CO but used to live in the Denver Metro area. We have owned several trucks and SUVs equipped with Michelin LTX MS(2) tires and found that they perform very well in the snow. That's what are on our '08 GX and we still like them.
On one truck I tried Yokohama Geolanders--that was a really BAD idea. Not only was the ride not as smooth as the Michelins, the Geolanders got noisier as they got older. I replaced them with Michelins after less than six months of commuting.

+1 on any Michelin tire, just check the tread rating, it's like a 700 on the LTX M/S 2, compared to 300-400 on the average SUV tire, so double the tire life, worth every penny more
