Default Any interest for GX470 offroad parts?

Is there any interest on this board to use the GX470 for more than just a grocery getter? I've been designing a steel plate winch bumper for the front and am inclined to start production if there were enough people interested. A rear bumper w/ tire carrier is in the works too.

It seems that the folks on this board are more interested in city type things but I've seen a few guys carve your trucks up to make 4runner parts fit. This bumper would be full bolt on without modifying the body of the truck at all. I imagine this problem of cutting the truck fenders is what turns a lot of people off and I hope I can introduce a few more people to the great outdoors by ensuring your truck stays a lexus and not a frankenstein that cant easily be put back to stock.

Come on guys! It's time to use your truck to their full potential, not to mention look mean as hell! Let me hear from you.

Post pics!

Will the front bumper increase interior noise? Whistling sounds? If not, then I'm interested.

We are currently welding up the prototype now. I hope to have the design finalized within the next couple of weeks. I'll definitely post pics and driver impressions, the staunchest one, my wife.

I can pretty much guarantee that if she doesn't complain about wind noise or whistling, no one will.

You'll probably get less than 1% interest. C'mon man these luxury SUVs although capable of going off road are just too pretty to get dirt on. I have my FJC for my off road fix.

Owning both how does the FJ compare? As far as off road capability? Never driven an FJ myself.

Yes, I have seen the ARB bumpers retrofitted onto the GX, but it requires modification to the fenders and other locations. Not to mention they cost north of 1400 dollars, although I'm sure the robot welding and grinding and all are quite nice.

Those large companies have massive amounts of overhead, but I have a feeling that there is still room in the market for a much less expensive bumper that fits well and does everything you'd expect it to.

I aim to fill that void for this niche market and have the capability for customization to the individual level. Give me just a little time, to get this prototype finished up and we can go from there.

Like I've alluded to before, my wife owns the GX, and she's a little country, so I'll be making a single bumper regardless. Hopefully, we can please others that are looking for a less expensive option that still looks good and performs great. Also, because the 4runner and GX share the same frame, it isnt too inconceivable to have different "skins" that bolt onto the same winch mount platform that would allow for a modular approach to creating armor for both the GX and 4runner, which would significantly increase the potential customer base.

I've been preparing my company for some time, so I'm not going to make claims and just disappear without results. I'm stubborn that way . Southern Style Speed, LLC is also the designer of the first hood sealed intake that produces nearly 9whp for the IS and GS Lexus models and we are still pursuing funding to get that venture off the ground.

I look forward to serving you in the future!!

looking forward for this. I've been wanting to mods the GX to look more 'gangsta tough' w/ the off-road parts but i dont even do off-road at all, so kinda useless lol.

Hey jack, form follows function...or is it the other way around? chicken or the egg? In any case, looking good is just as important in my book as performing well, and all of my products do both!!
