Default Brakes catching and slipping?

We bought the car this past summer. Notice steering wheel vibration during braking. Figured rotors were warped. Which they were. Replaced all 4 rotors and pads. Now I notice that when I brake at a stop light or sign, it feels like the brakes are catching and slipping. Jerking movement. Like you are pumping the brakes slightly. Brake pedal seems slightly mushy too. Maybe air in brake lines? Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Sounds like stuck calipers. I've had to replace all 4 calipers around 75k miles and then one of the brand new calipers had to replaced because it was sticking as well. It's apparently extremely common. If it happens again, I am not going to use OEM parts to replace.

Couldn't you just service the calipers. Get new pistons and seals?

The typical rebuild kit does not come with new pistons and by the time you price out new pistons it's about the same price as just buying a fully rebuilt caliper (w/ a warranty). It takes about 3x longer to rebuild a caliper then it would be to replace the caliper. IMO, it's not worth the minimal cost savings given the extra labor.

Though I didn't experience any symptoms, at 85K miles, both my front brake calips seized.

New ones cost ~$200 each iirc.

I just went ahead and swapped out all rotors, pads, two new reman front calipers. You'll need the shim and fit kits. with all OEM parts from sewell, it cost me ~$1000.

Hmmm . . .

Might this be the well documented driveshaft clunk instead?

Any indications if the driveshaft TSB was ever applied/taken care of?

How many times does it "catch & slip" per stop and does it happen ever time?

Good luck

I don't know how to tell if the shaft has been replaced without calling the dealer. It catches and slips everytime I brake. The pedal feels soft so I'm gonna. Bleed the lines first and will go from there. It that don't work the calipers are coming off to see if they are seized. If they are, will clean the pistons and replace seals and dust boot. If that don't work, then maybe replace calipers.
