Any advice on Bridgestone Dueler H/T 840
For GX 470? My dealer already put them on. I called after seeing some awful reviews online (not this forum) just on line. Mainly from crv Honda users. SO, does anyone have any advice specifically for the Bridgestone Dueler for the Lexus GX470? I do not need a good snow tire. We live in Oklahoma. So I have normal road conditions. Maybe one snow and or ice storm a year.

My dealer already put them on. But I have one week (on a warranty) to keep them or change them
I have to pay the difference .... if it's a huge cost difference.
Are these tires great? I do like the quietness. They seem smooth. I don't feel any vibration. I went up to 80 on the highway. Felt fine.

Before I am totally stuck.....advise if this is a good or bad choice?

I have the original OEM tires as well, because I didn't know better either a year ago. Get ready for all of the opinions that are coming soon on this topic. The Bridgestone is an OK tire at best. For the weather that you have describled, infrequent, you will probably be OK. The tires are quiet and long lasting.

However, the Michelin LTX/MS 2 are the most recommended amoung club members and probably the best option for the GX. If you put this on, it will be the only tire you need, all year. Depends on if the dealer is going to be fair with you about the price difference. It also depends on your finances. It shouldn't be more than $50.00 a tire to trade up.

Michelin are much better than Bridgestone. I have had both over the years and now only buy Michelins. Read some reviews on Tirerack.com

i second that, for your purpose the cross terrains are great, they were OEM on my truck in 04 and i just made the switch to the LTX/MS 2, also a great tire but normally we get snow here in the east, just not this winter.

Michelin's are the way to go. The Bridgestone's aren't a good choice in my opinion. The Michelin LTX MS2 is the tire you want...

I had the Duelers for the first 60K miles but recently put on Michellin Cross Terrain from Costco. Cost was $990 for a set, while the comparable Bridgstone (but not as good tire) was $950.

The consensus here is definitely go Michellin LTX or Cross Terrain.

I've had at least 6 sets of Yokohama geolanders and they all have been great. Maybe not as quiet as my Michelin or dunlops but they were also 300 cheaper a set too...

I have the Michelin Latitudes - good tire that lasts a LONG time. I haven't heard anything good about the Bridgestones - and I bet the dealer isn't going to put the best/most expensive tires on voluntarily.

I had Bridgestone Duelers on my Land Cruiser. After 2 years and 15,000k they were almost bald. I stopped by Firestone to inquire about the excesive wear, the manager took one look and replaced all 4 immediately. 2 years and 12,000k later, replacement tires were 80% gone.
I went to Costco had them replaced with Michelin. You can't go wrong with Michelin. Watch the air pressure and rotate as recommended (I let Costco do it while I shop), Michelin tires will easily last 50,000 miles. Hope this helps.

Be glad you didn't get the OEM Dunflops. Mine didn't last 20k mi.

I'm enjoying the LTX MS/2 now and they're good to go.

Something's not right with your tread life. Have you guys ever gotten an alignment done by an independent shop? Even if bought new, it's not uncommon for cars to be out of spec.

In many cases, I believe that Lexus specs lower tread wear versions of tires as OEM. The same tire in these cases can be had in two tread wear ratings From the manuf - one higher and one lower.

I'm super uptight about alignments. My cars track straight and the sterring wheels are spot-on, too.
