Default glove box noise

I bought an 09 gx470 with 25,000 miles on it. I noticed about a weird noise under the glove box. Its not an irritating noise but since the cabin is so quiet, you will noticed this during the ride. Would it be normal to have this noise?, I owned an 06 rx330 and i dont have that issue.

Can you be more specific regarding the noise? What kind of noise...when do you hear it...etc...?

If it is a slight whine or flutter, it could be the heater fan. I just had mine replaced, the higher the fan speed the louder it got.

Do a little more investigating and post results. When you are driving and hear that noise, turn your heat/ air to off and see if the noise continues. The glove box is removable with some care (lowers downward). You need to do this periodically to replace the cabin filter. It may be that the cabine filter is not sealed all the way. Run a search on this site, regarding changing the cabin filter. With the glove box removed/ lowered, you can reach around and see if anything is obviously loose that could rattle. I carry extra fuses and small bulbs in my glove box, but put them in a bubble wrap bag, to stop any rattles. I have an 08 with 60,000 miles. I seldom turn on the radio, because I like how quiet the cabin is. NO RATTLES Sunroof, doors, nothing

I tried checking cabin filter and nothing changes but turning off the fan the noise stop. I will bring it to the dealer tomorrow and we will see. Thanks a lot, by the way, slight whining is the sound I hear..

I have heard the same thing in my GX since the day I drove it home from the showroom. I just thought it was normal operation for the fan.

So I did made an appointment with don valley lexus and heres what they said, that the noise I am hearing is the normal operation of the fan. What kind of mechanic and service would say those things, do they know what they really doing? Simple things like this is not a rocket science even grade 1 student can hear the noise and its irritating to think that you are driving a lexus. Anyway I didn't believe what they said and decided to take it to Richmond lexus, left the car for the day and they replaced the fan and battery with no cost. I just cant believed what kind service does Don Valley lexus do. These people should be train properly or they should not work at lexus at all.

Right Behind the Glove compartment is the Cooling Motor Assy Fan and Damper Servo Control Motor. The Culprit on the most of the case of this fine static crackling sound is the Damper Servo Control Assy. It is a very small unit which requires greasing, if you are out of warranty you can do this yourself, if you under warranty the dealer replaces this stuff.

Unfortunately, some Lexus dealers give this typical response all the time.
