Default 100,000 mile GX still super reliable?

With a 2 year old and dog I've run out of room in my Is250. It's time for a SUV and I love the GX. Unfortunately 25k is the max I can shell out. I found a beautiful 2007 with 103,000 miles for about 23. Is it crazy to spend that much on a car with high miles? I guess I'm just wondering how these things act from 100 to 200,000 miles. Still super reliable? Would I be better off with a 2004-2005 with 60k miles?

yea bud.

i had an 03 4runner v8 limited with 103K miles that i drove since 60K miles. nary an issue.

given that both are essentially the same trucks, i picked up a private sale 07 with 79k miles for $23.5K a couple of months ago. i regret selling my perfectly lifted/modded 4r so will keep this GX for hopefully even longer to serve as my daily beater. i like it even better than the 4r!

just make sure it's been maintained well and that you continue the good practice. gl

I have a friend with a 2004 land cruiser with 280,000 miles, Toyota trucks are bullet proof!

I spent $21k on an '04 with 85,000 miles. I plan on keeping mine until 300k - just make sure you service it properly.

I spent $2,500 on fully loaded '03 with bad engine at 256,000 miles. Invested another $1,000 into it and have perfect running beauty.

I've got 163k miles on mine. I bought it with 37k miles. I change the oil every 5k (Synthetic) and did the timing belt once. It runs great still. The only thing I noticed the other day was my radiator is kinda seeping through the top a little. I'll probably replace that this spring or sooner. Can't complain though with the mileage i have.

I had to replace radiator 2 months ago. Bought Denso 221-3125 from buyautoparts for $223 with free shipping. It was made in Indonesia (not Japan like the factory original) but it was perfect fit. Took me 1-1/2 hour without removing fan, just pushing back the fan guard towards the engine.

We recently discussed this same situation on another thread. I am going to go out on a limb again and say get the lowest mile truck available that has all records that you can afford. The 07 and up have a nicer navi but at the end of the day they are the same truck. We have a 05 we bought at 60k miles. Now after 2 years we just rolled 90k with zero issues except routine oil changes. With 2 kids, a wife city driving and myself with a heavy foot on long highway runs, no issues at all. The truck takes a ton of abuse wil no complaints.

Anyway back to my point on the miles, we looked at a 07 with 85k that had the nicer navi. I almost went for that one but ended up going for the lower miler 05 for similar money. If I did get the 07, my truck would now have 115k and would have had to get the timing chain done a year into ownership instead of 2 like I am facing now.

Where can I find that thread? I am finding some 04's with 60-70k for 20ish. Perhaps I'll go that route.

I have an '03 with 95K on the odom...runs beautifully, I would go with an older one if possible with lower mileage, just make sure it was well maintained.

sweet, thanks for the info..

OP, of course the lower the mileage the better. Or see if you can get service records too. g/l

I picked up an 04 with 70k miles from my local lexus dealer a few months ago. I paid under 20K for it and was able to finance it at my credit union for 1.5% This seems to be the value sweet spot right now. You may want to spend a little more for an 05 to get the newer engine and nav system, otherwise I think the next stop would be a CPO for 28-30k.

Wow you did good there.

I just bought a loaded '03 with 107k for $18.5 with full maintenance history, just had a new set of Michelins on it which was a major plus for me. I'm hoping to go another 100k miles without issues
