I was cursious because there was some talk that the next generation of RX300 will be built in Canada. I would never buy a Canada or USA-produced vehicle.(a.k.a. Acura MDX or others)

The Camry is made here as well as The Tundra, the Sequoia, the Corolla, the Sienna, the Solara and the Highlander.
Why wouldn't you buy something US built? Toyota uses the same quality control everywhere...

Not really
Toyota DOES NOT use the same quality control in America that they can in Japan. I have much higher confidence in vehicles assembled in Japan. Why do you thihk Toyota still produces most of its motors and transmissions in Japan? Toyota has been reluctant to shift Lexus production to America because of this lower quality control. But they do realize the cost effectiveness, and because of that, they are shifting the new RX to Canada.. still not the US for Lexus.

Why do you have lower confidence in their quality control in the US? Is it something justifiable or just your gut feeling? How do you feel about the quality and reliability of your Honda? It was built in America.

Knowledge
Our friend used to own a Toyota dealer, and there were Camry's that were made in Japan as well as Camry's assembled in Kentucky. There was a was you could tell, by the VIN or something like that. The ones made in Japan had tighter interiors, and according to my friend, held up that way even as customers brought them back in for service and what not. So it's not just a gut thing.
-As for my Accord, yes it was built in America, and I am not happy with it at all. I guess you could blame it on being such a mass produced, fairly cheaply priced car, but the build quality is just subpar. Had a 1986 Toyota Cressida (made in Japan) that was tighter than this thing. My fault for buying it I suppose. Other two cars, S2000 and LX450 were made in Japan. I love those two. The LX, even though it is nearing 6 years old, is in terrific condition. No one guesses that the car is 6 years old.

No one guesses my Explorer is 6 years old either, its also a 97. Rides tight as a drum. It all really depends on how you care for the vehicle.
If Lexus moves some manufacturing plants over here, you can be sure they'll make sure the quality control is up to snuff.

Don't know about Honda, but...
...my previous car was a '00 Acura TL, and that car rattled like crazy. Fit and finish was OK,tranny & engine OK, but built quality is quite terrible. BTW, that car was has about 75% US / domestic content and I believe final assembly plant is somewhere in Ohio. My friend '97 Toyota Camry is much much quieter, by far.
Sorry for any TL owners.

I think thats more a Honda issue than a US build issue. I looked extensively at the 03 TL (I really like the exterior) and the reason I finally struck it from the list was the propensity for rattles.

...maybe you're right...
...I do believe Toyota' quality control is the best (although still not that flawless). My new LS430 rattles a little in the dash, but I forgive Lexus b/c it sounds like something is a little loose, not like the TL in which the rattle sounds more like "structural" rattle.
Having said that, I still love the exterior of the TL better than My LS though.
Looks like I'm complaining in the worng forum. Does anybody know the extimated price for GX ? :P

You can tell if the car is Japanese made or American made by the VIN. Japanese built cars start with 'J', whereas American built cars start with a number.
I believe the Avalon is made in Georgetown, KY alongside the Camry, and the Solara, Sienna, and Highlander are made in Cambridge, Ontario.

One subject comes to mind when I read this thread. I am not going to explain this, if you are interested go research this yourself. Go take a management course if you have to...
