Hey Guys,

During the 90k service that I did last weekend with my brother, I dropped a nut somewhere, couldn't find it and had to borrow one from the valve cover gasket. I went to the Toyo dealership and they couldn't help i.e. they don't stock it and don't know the exact nut to order. Does anyone know how I can get a nut to replace it?

During the TB replacement, I was planning to do the gear oil change but the toyo dealership doesn't sell the GL-5 oil. I went to the parts store and bought some universal oil that meets spec for GL-3, GL-4 and Gl-5 gear oil but I'm hesitant to use it because the oem book says you should use only toyo GL-5 oil as incompatible oils may cause your drive-shaft to seize up over time. Any recommendations?

I think this may help, just run thru the document and it has the toyota part number. Hope it helps cheers

Anyone know how I might be able to identify the part number for the valve cover nut? I want to replace the nut ASAP before it causes any potential leaking due to vibration.

back to the drawing board...too small.

The one for the valve cover is 12mm...

If anyone can help here's a picture of what I need. I'm sure its a common toyo nut.

I once asked the Lexus guys for a bolt to help hold on the skid plate. They told me to go to the hardware store since they don't stock those in-house. I took their advice, found a nice stainless looking bolt of the same pitch and size, and installed it. All's well. I would suggest you just get a suitable replacement from Home Depot.

You can definetly get something from the hardware store in a pinch and you'll be fine. That being said, I order nuts and bolts all the time from the dealer, for some projects it just makes more sense than spending time in the hardware isle. The parts people definitley dont want to look for it though, but if you go with a part number they are happy to just order it.


Not sure what you need, but find the part number here and order. And yes it won't be in stock most of the time but normally they have it very quick.

Not sure why those ****** are appearing, hit the url then replace them with T O Y O D I Y and it will work. Wonder what thats about CL?

yeah, I was planning to do this as my last resort. I'm surprised that if the dealership values you as a customer that they would get a tech from the shop to get one for you. I'm sure they lose or strip nuts/bolts often enough where they would need to replace it. If so wouldn't they have a bin of some sort with nuts hanging around in that you might be able to dig through?

I just used http://lexus.sewellparts.com/accesso...X470-2003.html as they have diagrams online to help identify the exact part your looking for.

The diagram didn't show the part I need but i did find 3 other part numbers that might work.

I called local toyo dlrship and its on order. Hopefully one of them is the right one. If not its only $3.50 and I'll make my way to HD to find a nut.

that would be typical of murphy's law but when it was lost I looked for it high and low...no where to be found. The maintenance was also done at a friend's house 87 miles away so chances are I won't see it again unless it was hiding in the frame somewhere and rolls out onto my driveway...then I would really go nuts!!!

By the way nice Supra!!! I owned 3 supra's ('85, '84, '88) before the family came...would like to get a garage queen someday. I'm still in love with the '90 - '92 models and would get one if I can find a clean unmodified one with low mileage.

Thanks, yeah luckily my family is just now coming, so since its paid for it doesnt bother anyone.

My neighbor had an 85 growing up, I still think those are awesome looking.

clean and unmodified is becoming a bit of a unicorn....and starting to pull major coin. They are out there tho...

not really, I used sewell lexus online parts to look at the diagrams for nuts that may fit with part numbers. I then used the part numbers to call local Toyo dealer to have them verify pricing (since no shipping costs to me) and had them order it.
