Default Check Air Conditioner warning message!!!!

I have a 2003 GX470 with 174,000 miles. It continues to be a great vehicle. This forum has been a great source of info for me.

Recently my air conditioning system only blows warm air in both the front and rear. When I start the vehicle, the Navigation screen flashes the message "Check Air Conditioner", then the A/C button on the Climate screen flashes.

I have searched the forums and read every post regarding this issue, and it seems that one possible fix is the "magnetic clutch relay", but the link to Sewel Lexus lists this part as belonging to the ES330, and NOT the GX470. There is NO such part listed for the GX470 on that website.

Can anyone else tell me more information regarding this problem. I'd very much like to fix this myself. I can do just about anything mechanical, I just need some helpful hints as to the source of them problem. One other post suggested that the author pull the AC error codes, but I don't know how to do that on the GX470.

Please help, and thank you in advance for taking the time.

Thanks for the help and the link, you are THE MANN!

For future reference for anyone else who has this problem, here is another link that explains this fix.

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/es3...t-working.html

This is apparently a common problem in Toyota vehicles (including ES300).

The relay costs $80 at the dealer, or you can get it at AutoZone or any of those type autoparts stores for about $15!!!!!!!!

Thanks to all who posted info on this thread. I had the "Check Air Conditioner" message on the Nav Screen of my 2004 GX470 at 55,197, miles. Your posts led me to buy a new relay for $13.95 which fixed the problem. I'm sure you saved me several hundred dollars.

Thanks Again

Okay well I just pulled into Vegas and the AC on my 04 GX470 is not working. It showed "check air conditioning" on the Nav screen. Sweet!!! What relay part number do I need and which relay is it? Does anyone have pics of this? Thx!!

I have a question along these same lines. I have noticed that my electric condenser fan doesn't always come on when the compressor is running which seems odd. It will come on from time to time, and I tested the fan which seems to work fine. Should this fan run with the compressor or is it controlled by the ECM?
