Default 4runner cat-back exhaust on GX470??

Has anyone successfully done this mod to their GX470? I've been hunting on all sorts of forums, toyota120, ih8mud, CL, but can't get a definitive answer.

Any help is appreciated

EDIT: As in Borla cat-back not OE

I don't have the answer for you, but have you considered going down to your local exhaust shop and see what they can do for you on price for a cat-back system? Sometimes it will come in cheaper and you are supporting a local business.

My experience has been good with local shops in three cities. Bonus, you don't like the sound, many of them will gladly swap mufflers to get that sound you are looking for!

Considered a custom cat-back but the nice polished tips and mandrel bent pre-made cat-backs are always nice to have. No one does excellent exhaust work in town, only good and sub-par.

While Borla has a listing for a cat-back for 4Runner, it does NOT have a listing for GX470. I find that strange...

Contact Toyota and Lexus dealers and compare the OE part numbers - if they match then Borla cat-back will match as well.

Let us know what you find out.

Im very interested in this, but its far from on my short list right now. Friend has a 4runner and brother works at toyota if I get the GX near a 4runner anytime soon I'll compare and report. TRD has a few listings had the TRD exhaust on my tundra and loved it.

Bolt on is the way to go...

Im assuming cat-back exhaust would be expensive regardless on the GX, If I'm not mistaking the cat is way up near the engine on our trucks. I had my cat replaced through Lexus and it was connected all the way up to the engine in one piece. That would put a lot of components beteween the cat and exhaust tip. I often wondered why the GX didnt have a y-pipe with dual exhausts similar to the MDX, especially with the GX's V8.

look around you. most toyotas (aka lexus) have a single exhaust. its only recently last year or 2 they started changing. now even the IS250 has dual exhaust.

Ive noticed. Funny even the V8 Escalade and Navigator's have single exhaust. Growing up you could only find V8's with dual exhaust now only 4/6 cyl. have them-It's backwards IMO.
