Got mine done about 4 years ago at an independent shop. About $650-$700 for labor along with belts and water pump.

Hello my Lexus family. Our 04 GX with 122k miles needs the Timing belt done.
Any links where I can purchased all the parts or the full timing belt Kit. Thanks in advance

Did this about 2 years ago at Prestige Lexus in Ramsey NJ. 101K miles. The radiator was also leaking (common issue?). For the radiator, water pump, accessory belt, timing belt and thermostat I think we paid ~2K, plus an RX as a rental.

Just had my '06 GX470 (185k miles) done last weekend at a Midas in Centennial, Colorado. Cost was around $1,400 for belt, pump, related parts, and labor. My total bill was $2,100 but that also included replacement of the radiator which had a small leak.

Do I need to change timing belt and water pump for my 08 GX470, only 50000 miles?

Yes, there is a time element to it as well -- the rubber will decay as it gets old. 9 years or 90k miles, as ALAN553 said.
Get all the parts in that region replaced, as the labor is the expensive part of the bill.

Every time doing oil change or other maintenance, the service adviser ALWAYS recommended repairs in the range of $2k-3k, is that normal? Sometimes, calipers, wheel bearings.. etc

Ask them to show you what's bad about it.

That being said, sticking calipers aren't unknown on the GX, and you should get one looked at (it's nice to be able to stop in a straight line).

For wheel bearing, if only one is bad---some noise from left rear when driving, do I need to replace both? Thanks!

Looking to get this done on an 08, would appreciate any input from SoCal owners as to where they had theirs done and maybe recommendations too. Thanks.

@malmon, check out RPM Garage (Steve) in Monrovia or Jimahajer (Chris) Garage in La Habra. Both do great work and I have done maintenance with both shops.

Just did my 08 gx470 timing belt, water pump, driving belt at 55000 miles and asked the tech keep the replaced parts. After looking them carefully, I believe they could last another 10 years!!!! They all are in excellent shape!! Feel I just wasted $1500.

I felt the same way when I had a timing belt replaced on our 99 Land Cruiser (with same 4.7 motor). It had only about 75,000 miles on the belt but it had been 10 years on the belt. The belt looked new, had a lot of life left in it as well.

My lesson was to follow mileage intervals (90k) and not to worry about time as much.
