Timing Belt Replacement Cost?
#77
Lexus in Kansas City just quoted me $1100-$1200 just last Friday. However my dad uses a small shop for his ES that works on Toyota/Lexus a lot who will do it quite a bit cheaper. It's practically all labor - parts are cheap.

I just googled and found Keys Lexus which is 30 miles aways from Santa Monica. Doing it for $769 belt only. So WP WOULD BE COUPLE HINDERED MORE...
Ask your dealer to match there coupon, which they will in most cases as its a Lexus Dealership and Save some $$$
Hope it helps.

Prestige Lexus in Ramsey, NJ is doing for $1055. Take it to them and get a loaner and pick it up next day.. OR print their coupon from the web and ask your dealer to match.
Includes replacement of the timing belt and idler pulleys, water pump, coolant and drive belt(s).
I know Lexus dealers in Central NJ and Philly are super expensive especially the one in Lawrence but i used to take the coupons to them and they would match it..

I got mine done by a Lexus dealership on Long Island (110 Lexus) for about $990. They also replaced a leaking radiator that cost about $500. However I have a bad feeling the timing belt and water pump wasn't replaced. The area by the air intake looked untouched and judging by the price they quoted me it seemed too good to be true. Everyone else quoted me north of $1400.
is there any way I can verify without taking apart the car?

I have a question:
Being a former technician and then a service writer at BMW and then in several private shops, why do most people feel they need to take their GX to the dealership even when t has no warranty.
The dealer generally charges more for labor about double for parts v. Original Equipment Manufacture = the factory and same specs the parts are made at for LEXUS/Toyota
The basic operations like: Timing belt, Tentioner, Water pump, ACC belt,; Radiator replacement; ALT replacement; fluids, oil are simple standard operations on a 4.7L Toyota engine nothing special at all so why pay so much more?
What do you feel you are getting, any trusted mechanic that has a legit shop has insurance, and plenty good training to get any of these done. So what is the deal.
I have had my GX for 30 days and already replaced my ALT and upgraded it to a 250A over the factory 125A, removed my running boards with the trim mod, now to do the radiator, replacing it with a all aluminum part vs the plastic tanked and aluminum offerings that are known as the weak link. I love this truck!

I'll be getting mine done at the local Toyota dealer on Monday. The price will be $950 for the timing belt replacement and water pump.

I'm sure that, over the years that I've owned Lexus vehicles, I've saved quite a few thousands of dollars by having work on those vehicles done at the Toyota dealer and not at the Lexus dealer.
