Default 06 LX or 08GX, need your advice

Hi,
I want to update my 03 GX. There are two choices, please tell me which one is better
2006 LX with 50k or 08GX with 33k, both for $42k. Both are CPO.
Thanks in advance

From my best friend who used to sell Lexus...

...when new, the LX was for those with more $ than brains (his words). The GX offered more features and value for less dough.

* GX has dual control a/c versus a single setting for the LX
* GX has a better sounding Levinson stereo
* GX rides smoother than the LX
* GX is ~1s to 60mph faster than the LX
* As said above, GX gets marginally better mpg than the LX

[All that said, I think the LX is a classic looking SUV and tons better looking than the GX inside and out. The LX has real cachet and, emotionally speaking, I'd love to have one.]

My Lexus car salesman buddy also loved it when a family would come in and look at a RX. The wifey would invariably love it, but the hubby usually had a hard time committing. He upsold a bunch of would-be RX buyers to the GX. For a bit more $, it was butch enough for the guy and a smoother ride than the RX which made them both happy.

Since you have an '03 now you'll notice a nice bump in power switching to the '08 (VVT-i was added in '05). The LX is nice but weighs more than the GX and has the same power plant which means it's slower and get worse gas mileage

I personally like the GX better. It has more features + better looking SUV, and will save you more on gas.

that really made laugh because that sums my mother-in-law up and she had an LX for years! me personally.....i drove her LX quite often and i didn't really like the feel of it. granted my opinion is a bit biased but i do prefer the GX over the LX.

You didn't say what's important to you. Do you need more space? The LX offers slightly more width and more space in the 3rd row. And cargo space if you take out the 3rd row. Maintaince costs on the LX will be higher due to AHC fluid that needs to be changed out frequently and wheel bearing that need to be repacked. THe 08 GX will be a more "modern" Lexus design, while the 05 LX is based on a much older design.

depending on where you are buying I think you could do better price wise on the 08 GX. http://www.vehix.com/inventory-resul...InMiles%253D25

I you need the extra room get the LX (I do like that you can raise the suspension front and rear).

But if you don't need extra room get the GX. Lighter, smaller and more fun to drive. I have owned 2 GX's and a 04 Landcruiser with is similar to the LX.
