Radio Reception
I get absolutely no AM stations and off/on FM (alot of static). I went to a Toyota dealer and was told that A) Salem OR has very weak radio reception, and B) That both Lexis and Toyotas w/ In Glass antennas, typically get horrible reception.
Does anyone else have this problem? Are there any known fixes?? I love my vehicle, and I do not listen to a large amt. of radio, but it kind of drives me nuts.
Thanks for any help/info.

Has this just happened? What kind of and year of vehicle do you have, since you didnt say?
I get crazy (good) reception everywhere! Toyota dealer is full of BS-take it to a Lexus dealer where they care a little more...lol It could be a bad amp or who knows but you should be picking up plenty

I just purchased the vehicle approx 2 mos. ago. I have had the problem since the day I purchased it. I know the previous owner very well. He lives in Boise, ID and said he NEVER had good reception either. But he said that he DID get better reception there than when he brought the vehicle to Oregon.
He at least got a little AM reception.

No problem with mine. Just buy a SIRIS/XM satellite radio module for your factory stereo and be done with it.

The static could be because a noise filter may exist in the antenna plug, which plugs into the radio, the antenna cable will normally show an open circuit when checking continuity. Remove the unit to check that.
Secondly check for aftermarket accessories, such as Rear Seat Entertainment (RSE) system, metallic window tint, and/or FM modulator. Disconnect the component and recheck reception.
Thirdly While you rlemove the front unit, check for the Antenna Mast Cable Connections if they are secure. I had mine the cable problem and replaced around 18months back and no issues so far.
Also check the connection which are on the rear glass door frame.
Fourthly check closely for the Antenna patterns on the glass if there is any cut, that is also a possiblity for the static sound and receptions issues.
cheers
