Default Question About 18 Inch 4Runner Wheels

New member with question for those who has 18 inch 4Runner wheels installed.

What tire size you have installed. I think 4Runner original spec is 265/60/18. I wonder if I could install something bit wider, for instance 285/60/18.
Concerns are, the tire sticking out too much and rubbing issues.
Did anybody installed anything wider than 265/60/18.
Thanks.

I am loking for the same info and have not been able to find it using the search. If anybody knows the 285 60 18 will definatly fit on 4runner rims on a stock 03 gx I will get some. I just dont want to buy them and find out they dont fit or that I need wheel spacers

I installed 285/60/18 last summer, it looks good IMHO. I should post some pictures.

I can almost guarantee ur gonna need spacers. This is not a bad thing. You can get hq spacers or in reality they r called wheel adapters by spidertrax since they r custom to ur truck.

1.25" likely. I run 285 60 18s on my aftermarket wheels that r slighlty wider than the 4r wheels at 8" v. 7.5".

285s look awesome with AT or MT tires.

Forgot to mention zero rubbing full lock and anything in between.

Quick pictures are of installed 275/60/18. The tire does not stick out of the wheel well, you are probably safe to install 285's.

The issue isn't so much going to be the tires sticking out past the fenders since the Limited wheels are only 7.5" width and sit in-board much more so than say aftermarket wheels. It's that not so pleasing RV wheels look typical of factory setups.

Rubbing may likely occur on the inside, not the outside.

I have the 4runner 18" on my GX. I have Bridgestone Alenza's on them. Tire size is 265/65/18 and they DO RUB at full lock. The rub is very, very slight, but they do rub.

I plan to put A/T tires on the stock rims at 265/70/17 and expect those to rub at full lock too...

I have no rubbing issues on my 2004 with 275's...
