After a heavy rain I noticed the tweeter on the drivers side start to make a "crackling" sound. Then the sound went away for a few weeks. One day shortly after that, the speaker started making that sound again, however, a lot louder...then POP. No more sound from the speakers. Everytime I turn my car on, I hear a brief crackling then pop and no sound. I took my 2004 GX470 to the dealer and they indicated I needed a new amplifier - cost? $800 plus labor to install!

I've seen the 86280 OW-140 amps on ebay for $489. Does anyone know if that is what I really need or is there a way to test before I spend money on an amp? Thanks!

The Amp for GX470 and LX470 is same..maybe try Sewell .....they have one going on with a warehouse sale for only 80/-$. the ECU needs to be re-progammed. that's it.

Sewell has the amplifier for $695.01. I'm still not sure I even need one. Does anyone know how to do a diagnostic test for this? Thanks! Kathy
