dude....my wife said EXACTLY this few weeks ago when we saw newer GX in mall parking lot, looks really close w/ 4Runner.

to OP, i can't really compare GX with RX but we're glad we decided to get GX after long considering to get RX, Benz RL & ML. I'd say go for it

Ours 105K already when we bought it and have no problem so far (knock on wood)

I like the older GX;s much more--thats why I kept my 08!

The nice thing about the GX is that it is so versatile. Not to mention that it's actually got good acceleration. I went from an 05' Lincoln Navigator with 80,000 miles to an 04' GX470 with 58,000 miles and the only thing the Navi had on the GX was the amount of interior space.

The GX is an awesome truck. If you have lots of kids then go for an LX. Otherwise the GX is the way to go.
