Navigation 2006 GX470
Hi All!
I think this is my first Post. I have a question regarding my Wife's GX470. It is a 2006 model year that we bought about a year ago.
How do I go about upgrading or updating the Navigation system? My guess is that is has the original 2006 Software Revision. I am used to using a Garmin unit and the Garmin seems much more intuitive and easy to use than the Lexus interface.
Has anyone upgraded the Software? What are the advantages? How much does it cost? Can I do it myself?
Please let me know.

Welcome Rob!
The dealer can update the navigation disk (or you can buy one online at a ClubLexus or other vendor at a discount and attempt to do it yourself). However, that will do little more than update the maps. The software itself will get updated, but more as a maintenance issue than any new features.
Before doing that, you should check whether it still has the original 2005 map disk or maybe you are lucky and the previous owner updated it.
I did update the disk a couple of years ago, and it had some new maps and POIs but probably not enough to justify the cost. I might be mistaken, but I though response time was a tiny bit slower. You are NOT going to get an upgraded Nav system this way, sorry to say.
