Just had the same crack appear about 10 days ago. Contacted Lexus dealer and said it wasn't covered with the Plat. ext. warranty. After some push back they offered to replace the dash but want me to pay for the labor install. Quoted $660 for the labor.
Also talked with the best leather repair shop in town (they do the Lexus stuff) and they wanted $300 to fix the crack.
I have called the 800 lexus folks. Said they would get back to me in 2 days. Today was the second day. Advice?

I tried that armor all gel on the plastic that is in front of the instrument panel.
The clear plastic looks brand new! Took out all the fine scratches on it.
I recommend it.

I paid $356 for the labor at the Lexus dealership, I don't know why they quoted you $660.

Talked to the dealer in person about this yesterday. They will throw in the dash but I have to pay labor -- 7 hours at $105/hr.
Kinda pissed me off so much that I may start looking around to replace the vehicle. The vehicle has 50K miles with the PL EXT Warranty that expires 8/10.

Burl. I suggest you try another dealer, and then have a comparision of the rates, I believe it should not be over 400/-$ Labour. The job takes max 4 hours with taps on.

Called Lexus 800 and they told me to take or leave the dealers offer. I told them to shove it and bought a new Mercedes today-- traded in the Lexus. Bye guys! This dash thing is bull****!

Just make sure to give them a nice gift at Christmas time so they keep you on their good side.

Thanks for advice. I have owned eight mercedes vehicles. My experience has shown that they have about the same dealer face time as the two lexus vehicles I own (actually only one now!)

Cracked Pics
We just purchased our CPO 06 GX three weeks ago. My wife walked out one morning and noticed this on the dash. There is no way we would have missed this on the inspection after they detailed and fixed everything. Our local dealer called us back this afternoon and told us that they think they can cover it under warranty. I will keep my fingers crossed and you guys updated.
