Default 2011 gx 460?

Hi GXrs....

Went to the Lexus 2010 RX intro last night... Got a chance to speak to one on the Lexus marketing guys about the upcoming GX460.

Conversation was brief... However, very interesting.

Engine.. Same engine as the 2010 Tundra..

Here are the specs from the 2/11/09 announcement - "Not to be forgotten at the Chicago auto show is Toyota's new 4.6L V-8 engine. With 310 hp and 327 lb-ft of torque, the new V-8 will offer more bang for the buck and is expected to deliver a fuel economy of 15 city/20 highway. Both the new 4.6L V-8 and the 5.7L V-8 will be linked with a six-speed automatic transmission."

Navi - Gen 6.. Not sure what's new with it. Probably will have the "mouse" like interface that is being introduced in '10 RX

Rims - 19 and 20 inch options.. 18 standard

3rd row - one touch fold flat into floor

No idea of pricing...

Anyone else seen or heard more?

My thoughts exactly, but we all know this is an easy fix; and if this is all we will have to complain about now, that's great. I may have to trade in my 2006...or just buy another one.

Fold into floor 3rd row = independent rear suspension..... Is this guy serious? And does the GX really need to have it's third row?

Some people are more interested in rims and push button start, then the 4x4 capabilities (if they know what it is to start with)

A HID kit would be easy fix nut if you want to do it right, then you need a HID projectors in there instead of halogen projector.

It will have the fold-flat 3rd row, and yes, it does need to have the 3rd row because people are convinced they need it.

The 3rd row seat does come in handy every once in a while.

But if the fold-flat 3rd row seat means an independent rear suspension - forget the seat, keep the solid axle.

Why?

How many people who buy a GX do you think actually get any benefit from the solid axle?

Most people would prefer IRS. In fact, probably 95% of the people I talk to are irritated that they can't get a 2WD GX.

It's Lexus, not Jeep.

One of the main reason I bought GX (along with KDSS and TORSEN).

most of the Jeep are AWD mall cruses.

Toyota/Lexus already has mall cruiser (Highlander/RX), and with Land Cruiser/LX been much much more than 4Runner/GX I would really hope Toyota will decide to have another real SUV and not another overweighted/oversized mall cruiser.

You guys are missing the point. You are true rarities.

No one cares about off-road, a "true SUV", any of that, except for a very, very few.

I know.

Toyota already killed my car once (Supra) and I am sure they will do it again.

But I still want to drive sport RWD cars with manual, and 4x4 SUV's
