Just picked up my 2009 GX
Just picked up my new 2009 GX....
It's really almost exactly like my 2004, just new.
Basically bought the new one due to the $25K small business tax credit.
With the $25K tax credit, plus 20K trade-in...it was almost a no brainer.
I do have some questions about the NAV screen
(my '04 did not have the NAV screen)
(guess I need to change my signature line)

Thanks cssnms....
Do you know if the '09 Nav screen can be defaulted to either climate or audio? Mine is defaulted to the map. I use the climate and audio all day every day and will be using the map very rarely. I dont want the default to be something I rarely use.
Do you know if the dealer or myself can disconnect the seat belt buzzer? I always wear my seat belt , but hate hearing the buzzer....I want to put my seat belt on with my schedule not Toyota's.
Do you know what the highest speed is you can adjust the auto door locks?
Do you know if you can have the setting changed on the remote control where all the doors will unlock with one click of the remote?
Thanks for any info.....

Here's how to have it on audio without going back to the nav screen:
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gx-...creen-off.html
I believe the manual says it's 15mph that the auto door locks, better yet, check with the manual.
Dealer can change the "C-best settings" regarding unlock your door with 1 press on the remote and turning off the seat belt chime.
I believe it's a one time free deal.

"Tell us about those wheels. They look familiar to me, but I can't place them". Congrats
Thanks Johnny......those are the same wheels I had on my 2004 GX470.
(Had the dealer put them on the 'o9)
20" Helo Xplode wheels 285/50 Sumitomo's
Here are the wheels on my 'o4......thats probably why they look familiar.

1. turn the key to the ON position which means pressing the start button twice on the new IS since it doesn't has the key, foot off the brake
2. Press the trip reset button couple of times until the ODO is displayed (not trip A or B)
3. turn the ignition to the LOCK (OFF) position
4. unbuckle the driver's seatbelt if it was buckled.
5. turn the key to the ON position again press the start button twice. when the dash lights comes on, press and hold the trip reset button and count a slow 12 seconds. (editor's note, hold it more like 30 sec)
6. while still holding the trip reset button, buckle the driver's side seatbelt.
7.and the odometer display should read "b ON" or "b OFF". toggle the beep OFF with the trip reset.
8. the process should be completed when you unbuckle or turn the key off.

jmd93....thanks for the tips about turning off the seat belt buzzer.
I finally took my new GX into the dealer today to get "one click of remote
and all doors unlock" and also asked about turning off the seat belt buzzer.
They did the "one click of remote and all doors unlock" but they refused
to turn off the seat belt buzzer.
So when I got back to the office I tried your suggestion and it worked!
No more seat belt buzzing every morning when I get my newspaper...ect.
Many, many thanks.....and I really mean that.
If your ever in Dallas your steak is on me....you fixed an irritating nuisance.

does anyone know if you can buy aftermarket programing for the nav screen in a GX so that text messages would show and be readable on your nav screen?
why does the "Transfer" button on the blue tooth application appear during some cell phone conversations and not on some? many times i want to use the transfer function because I have others riding in my car and dont want them to hear my phone conversation....but sometimes after I take a call the "transfer" button to send it to my cell phone does not appear or be functionable.
also does anyone find it odd that the default on the nav screen is the map, when most people use their audio and temp tons of times every single day, and may only need the nav map once a day or once a week or once a month?

dude...........
I'd can this post if I were you, before some IRS watchdog finds it. The tax credit you refer to is to vehicles with a gross weight of 6,000 pounds and higher. The GX is only 4900 and change.....

We'll agree to disagree....I had two certified accountants review the deal and they both said the tax credit was good for this vehicle and it was a no-brainer to not do it. Bring on the IRS! LOL
btw: The manufacturers GVW listed on the metal plate inside of the driver's door is the valid measurement. And I just went and checked my 2009 in my garage and mine says "GVWR 6200".

GVWR does not mean that this is the vehicle weight. It means that is the total amount of weight the vehicle can carry fully loaded (pulling a trailer, passengers, and fuel ect.). That is maximum frame strength.
4900 lbs for the GX is about right for the vehicle unloaded.

The tax credit is based on "GVWR". (gross vehicle weight rating )
Section 179 gives you a tax credit of $25,000 on the purchase of a vehicle with a GVWR of at least 6,000 lbs
The Lexus GX470 is 6200 thus eligle for the tax credit.
