Default Dealer wants to buy-back my GX!?

I received a letter from my Lexus dealer yesterday informing me that they are interested in buying-back my GX470. My GX is an `04 with 34K on the odometer. According to the letter, pre-owned GXs are in high demand and they will offer me a "good" price for mine if I would like to consider one of their `08 or `09 Lexus cars. I have no intention of parting with my GX, but it sounds to me like the dealership is needing to move some units. Has anyone here received any dealership correspondence like this?

It is actually pretty sad to see LEXUS do this scam. I expect this from Honda and Toyotas and Domestic brands, but not from a luxury brand with such a high reputation.

It is surprising to see people fall for this scam...but i guess that is why these dealers do this scam in the first place.

Disappointing to hear is right.... Yeah they will buy it back alright, at a deep discount well below what you could sell it for. Even the dealers that claim they will give you Kelly BB FMV, only offer KBB "trade-in" value. VW had this crap going earlier in the year in effort to move inventory and off-set lagging sales.

Lexus is not the only luxury brand doing this. I periodically get letters from Infiniti as well with the same scheme, used Infinitis are in demand, etc. etc. etc. . If the Q45 with the v8 engine is in such demand, how come it depreciates faster then a shooting star?
