Default Wheels/offset/tires

im looking at some 22" wheels that are 9.5" wide and the offset is either ET20or ET30. i was also looking at 305/40/22 tire size. But im not quite sure what offset i want and what tire size i will need if i want my tire to either stop at or barely pass the fender. so what tire size and offset do i need for this to work?

I am not a tire expert, but I suggest asking a wheel / tire advisor on a site like discounttiredirect.com or tirerack.com , you can call their toll free number and talk with a tire guru type person that can answer all your questions.

I ordered tires from DTD before, they shipped straight to my house, then I took those to my local shop to mount & balance. I know the sites will mount a new tire on a rim and balance it for you then ship you the entire thing ready to mount on your truck, but I have never ordered that way so I can't say how good a job they do.

I am tempted to order some 20's for my GX and take to CostCo for mounting on Mich Cross Terrains though.

hey, i second on asking the wheel ppl. they have more knowledge on it. but i was gonna put some 24s on mine. they said to go with 285/35/24. thats with 24x10 offset. 5 inch lip all around. cannot go staggered because its an all wheel car. hope that helps.

I have 305/40/r22 Nitto 420S Tires on my GX. They only have a SLIGHT rub every now and then. I even took it 4-wheelin' 3 weeks ago and there was no problem with articulation. Overall I am very satisfied with how easy the transition was. HOWEVER, I lost at least 20% of my fuel economy in doing this. I now get an average of 13.2MPG. Had I known it would be that big of a difference, I would have gone for the 285's. It's all a matter of preference. They look MEAN and I love it.

For what it's worth, I spoke to a local shop yesterday about some other install work and happened to mention wheels and how I was considering either a 20 or 22"

The guy said that there are very few wheels that will actually fit the GX, plenty have the right bolt pattern, but the problem he said are the ones with CENTER CAPS and how once the circle ring spacer goes in, the center cap does not want to fit on. He did not give me and specific brands that were a problem, but you may want to check into it.
