Default Possible To Remove HVAC Controls From NAV

My wife's 2006 GX470 has the Mark Levenison/NAV. The HVAC controls are integrated into the NAV screen. If something goes out with the NAV screen, I could live without that old clunky factory NAV, but we would be screwed without any HVAC controls.

Is there any way to separate the HVAC controls from the NAV system, like get the parts form a GX470, that doesn't have NAV? I was looking at the cost of the NAV screen, and it is $4000! That would be a horrible price to pay for the outdated and choppy NAV system in that thing.

I never tried it but I doubt it's a direct swap, I'm sure the wiring is different. If you try it and it works let me know...I'd LOVE to get rid of the factory Navi and put in an aftermarket.

X2, factory nav in my '04 is archaic, I'd love to be able to stick a double DIN aftermarket stereo in its place.

I know the conversion works in the late model LS400s with navigation. What you may also consider is looking up prices for places that can rebuild malfuctioning Toyota/Lexus nav systems/screens. Its much more cost effective than buying a new set up from the dealer!

I guess you can ask if any GX owner with non-NAV console would swap out your NAV console. But I won't do that.
