I'm using Fumoto valve. Super easy and clean oil changes. Just use a hose and drain right into jugs.

Thanks for the thread. Planning my first oil change and it was a big help.

I changed oil yesterday, I had a Purolator PL10241 filter in hand, but it looks like the Toyota factory filter (90915-YZZD3) is longer than the filter I had. Used it anyway, will get the longer Purolator filter for the next oil change.

Why not just get the Toyota Filter. I lost a engine once due to non-oem filter. I truly believe OEM is better. My dealer sells three at a time for less then the AutoZone sells three of the cheaper brand.

good point, will do it next time. Also realized that the factory oil filter will fit my Sequoia, so will definitely do this. thanks, co4wheel.

Or go for a synthetic media filter, lasts longer, like Mobile 1 or amsoil. I usually use the amsoil oil and filter, 1 year or 15 K.

I can't agree. I always use non-oem filters, no problem at all.

I buy them 5 at a time on Amazon for $25 with free shipping. Can't beat that. I'm an oil change freak though, it gets changed roughly 3 times a year and I put less than 8k a year on it.

Love the fumato drain plug. Had it on my pass 3 vehicles with a combine mileage over 300k.
My girlfriends daughter has a 210k mile 4Runner that mom gave her and the drain plug was stripped so I repaire the threads and put a fumato in, seems to be working great. I told her if she has to get the oil change at a shop, she calls me first and I make sure they know what they are doing

Default Different drain plug size? KDSS?

I bought the Fumoto F103N valve, listed on their site for my 2005 GX. When I went to install it, it was way too loose, and rattled and fell out. Did Lexus use a different drain plug size on these trucks at any time? Mine has the sport package, so it has KDSS, maybe this necessitated a different oil pan and drain plug? Please let me know, I have 5000 miles to figure this out! Haha.

It's possible at some point the drain plug was stripped and the mechanic drilled it out a larger size and re-tapped it.

Your explanation makes the most sense.
...crap.
Guess I can drain, take the plug in to match threads, and contact fumoto about a different plug.
Thanks.

Or Fumoto simply has the wrong one listed for the GX. Maybe others here that have used it can confirm/deny.
